he Italian snow of Alpago Saturday hosted the third round of the ski mountaineering World Cup. For the youth categories the World Cup circuit reserved for them ended here. The young world champions of ski mountaineering competed a distance of about a thousand meters in altitude, tackling three main climbs. The Specialty World Cup was won by Michele Boscacci (Italy) for the Espoir category, Anton Palzer (Germany) for the Junior category, and Gianluca Vanzetta (Italy) for the Cadets. In the women's category the World Cup was won by Mireia Miro Varela (Spain) for the Espoir category, Jennifer Fiechtern (Switzerland) for the Junior category and Laura Balet (Spain) for the Cadet category. In the senior category, victory was reaped by Martin Anthamatten (Switzerland) for men and Mireia Miro Varela (Spain) for women. The Swiss athlete finished the race of 1450 meters in rise in just 1h:20m:37s, following him in rank are the two phenomenons Kilian Jornet Burgada (Spain) and Matteo Eydallin (Italy). In the women's category Mireia Miro Varela was followed by Laetitia Ruox (France) in second and Marie Troillet (Switzerland) in third place. The slopes of Val Martello (South Tyrol, Italy) shall host on March 6th the fourth World Cup race; from here the final location and verdict shall be decided in Zakopane, Poland, on April 17, 2011.
