The European snowboarding elite will gather this week at the 4Star Quiksilver Spring Battle in Flachauwinkl, Austria. From the 30th of March till the 2nd of April, the Absolut Park will host an impressive setup and a brand new video judging system. Since 2003, the Spring Battle has grown steadily and made a reputation as one of the best late-season events in Europe.  On top of the $ 20 000 USD prize purse, the riders CAN collect up to 500 Swatch TTR World Ranking points, which will count towards their 2010/11 season ranking. The qualifications and finals take place on Thursday, March 31st, and the big super-final will take place on Friday, April 1st. 


First class 4Star Slopestyle Event with Video-Judging Top of Form The huge setup in the Absolut Park at Flachauwinkl includes a monster 19-meter step-down kicker and an 18-meter tabletop kicker along with numerous jib obstacles.  In the qualification, a total of thirty riders will get a chance to compete in the two runs, best one counts format. The best ten riders will then face the invited riders, with the top ten again moving onto the three-run super-finals.  For the first time, judging will be conducted via video in the evening on a big screen for all to enjoy at the after party in the Festsaal. 
Top level Start field in Flachauwinkl  Belgian rider, Seppe Smits, who finished his TTR season in World No. 3, is heading down for the Quiksilver Spring Battle and will definitely be a rider to watch. Seppe took several podium placements this season including second place at the 6Star Oakley Shaun White Air & Style Beijing, as well as, the 6Star Nike 6.0 Air & Style Munich.  Seppe is planning to travel to the event with his brother, Anthony Smits, who also plans to compete this weekend.  Local riders will be representing in full force and will be giving them both some tough competition.  Herbert Thaler recently took second place at the 3Star Glemmbang Slopestyle Contest and Mathias Weissenbacher won the 4Star Engadinsnow in January.  Other Austrian riders include Michi Stanschitz and Zillertal Valley brothers Chris and Rudi Kröll, as well as, Peter König and Mario Wagner
The last 4Star TTR events are at sight After the Quiksilver Spring Battle in Flachauwinkl, the young future stars of snowboarding will head to the 4Star Protest World Rookie Finals. The last 4Star event of the TTR Season will be the all-girl Billabong Flaunt-It at Sierra-at-Tahoe, USA on April 9th, 2011 and the USASA National Championships going down April 2, 2011 to April 12, 2011 at Copper Mountain, Colorado.
