The RIDE Shakedown is set to hit the West Coast of the United States on March 18th and 19th, 2011 at The Summit at Snoqualmie resort in Washington, USA. The 4Star competition is a fresh event on the Swatch TTR World Tour and will feature a unique slopestyle course made up of a big air jump and rails where a mix of American and Canadian riders including, Tyler Flanagan (USA), Sam Hulbert (USA) and Matts Kulisek (CAN), will battle it out for a piece of $35,000 USD prize purse and a maximum of 500 Swatch TTR World Ranking points. Friday, March 18, 2011 will play host to the amateur qualification round and competition will continue on Saturday, March 19, 2011 for semi-finals and finals.
Top North American Riders set to Battle it Out
The RIDE Shakedown just wrapped up a successful 4Star slopestyle competition last weekend in Garmisch, Germany and now moves on to the US for the second instalment of the event in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. The line-up is stacked with talent including the likes of 17-year old, Tyler Flannagan (USA), who has been making his mark on the TTR World Tour this season. Tyler took second place at the legendary 6Star Oakley Arctic Challenge among some heavy competition in Oslo, Norway. Also planning to attend is American, Sam Hulbert, who won the 5Star slopestyle title at the Burton Canadian Open. Matts Kulisek (CAN) has some good TTR results under his belt and is another rider to watch out for at the RIDE Shakedown along with fellow Canadian, Zak Stone, who took second place at the 5Star Canadian Open slopestyle back in February. All of these riders CAN better their positions within the TTR Top 100 with a good result here at the Shakedown.
Unique ‘Call-Your-Trick’ Jam Format
The finals event on Saturday night will hold a unique 90-minute jam format where riders need to call their runs in order to be scored. If a rider does not perform the called tricks, no score will be awarded. Riders will have three runs with the two best combined to make up their final score. The riders will need a versatile set of skills to be successful on the Shakedown course, which will consist of a big air jump that rolls into a challenging option of rails. With the progressive jump and rail combo along with a top-notch rider list, the 2011 RIDE Shakedown is setup for some impressive riding.
